Our location in High Point Ranch is known for extreme conditions, with long, harsh winters and hot, dry summers. Roads to our ranch are only accessible from May through October or as weather otherwise permits. In an area steeped in Western U.S. history, it is no mistake that we chose this property, with the Mormon Trail, The California-Oregon trail, and the Pony Express Trail running through the center of our property. The road leading to our ranch was built on the bed of the Transcontinental Railroad after it was re-routed through the Aspen Tunnel. At one time, the railroad led to the historic railroad town of Piedmont, where you can still see the remains of the town and the Piedmont Charcoal Kilns, located just a few miles from us. Feel free to explore our site and contact us with any inquiries.
I guess you could say we are an environmentally friendly ranch, since there are no utilities in our remote location. Operating on solar with battery bank, occasional propane generator, wood heat with supplemental propane, and well/septic, we have learned to operate efficiently.
We have selected livestock, poultry, and plantings that tolerate these conditions, rather than trying to fight "Mother Nature". We already know the outcome of that fight...
